What is recorded here
Indicated is a collapsed stone ringfort on a SE-facing Kerry slope, its fifteen-metre circle marked by a drystone wall that still stands one and a half metres high where the hill holds firm. A recent rectangular structure leans into the southern cashel wall, suggesting humans kept returning to this exact spot long after the original builders left. The northern entrance faces the dropped stones and scattered field boundaries, inviting wonder about whether the fort resisted invasion or simply resisted forgetting.
In rough hill pasture and areas of cutaway bog, on a SE-facing slope. A circular area (int. diam. 15m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 1.8m; H 1.4m). The inner face of the wall is best preserved SW-SE. The external face of the wall is best preserved NW-E with the outer wall-face and some core stones collapsed E-NW. The entrance (Wth 2m) is at NW. The partly collapsed drystone wall of a recent rectangular structure is built into the cashel wall at S. Loose stones are scattered over the interior. A network of relict field boundaries (KE101-015001-) is to the W and NW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
