What is recorded here
A land grant to Oliver Fitzgerald in 1620 included the 'town of Moylackan, containing a water-mill ' (Cal. pat. rolls Ire., Jas I, 487). An early 17th-century map of Rathcline barony (BL, Cotton MS Augustus I.i.48) indicates that the N part of the present townland of Derrydarragh was known as Moylackan. The precise location of the mill has not been identified; the mill shown on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map may have been built on or close to it.
