Freestanding monument, erected c.1945, comprising ashlar limestone obelisk with carved cross having high relief sword at crossing point. Irish inscription to base and lower section of cross. Freestanding carved limestone plaque to west with English inscription. Set on concrete platform, approached by flight of concrete steps, and bounded by redbrick walls, having square-profile piers and wrought-iron railings.
