RATH in Deer Park

RATH

What is recorded here

Deer Park still holds the buried line of a rath, a fortified place old enough to belong before christian times. That much is clear. Whether it was a household, a fortress or a boundary marker for a forgotten chief, the earth has kept its shape while the names and stories disappeared.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
