Why this matters
A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.
What is recorded here
A subcircular area outlined by a field boundary is marked on the second edition of the OS map at this location. All of the small fields in this area have now been amalgamated into larger fields. No trace survives of this possible enclosure, and its status must therefore remain uncertain.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 800. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
