Cross-slab in Sevenchurches OR Camaderry

Located: in St. Kevin's Church (WI023-009----). Described by Leask (1950, 44) as ‘part of slab of granite, now 3 feet 7 inches [1.09m] by 1 foot 11½ inches [0.59m]. An incised three-line cross with circular centre and semi-circular ends, forms four panels. Near S. wall of Sacristy’. Dated to the early medieval period, likely between the 8th and 11th centuries, the cross-slab reflects Christian symbolism and may have served as a funerary or commemorative monument. The three-line cross with a circular centre is characteristic of Insular Christian art and may relate to local saints or ecclesiastical traditions.
