Cross-slab in Glebe (rathvilly By.)

A granite slab (H 0.43m; Wth 0.24m; T 0.16m) with a small cross incised on on E face. Letters at bottom of the cross were presumably carved sometime in the nineteenth-twentieth century. A granite cross-slab likely dating to the early medieval period, with the cross incised on its east face; the letters at the base are later additions from the 19th or 20th century. Such stones may have had a Christian commemorative or territorial function.
