Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00109 Dimensions: H 0.107, W 0.46-0.28, T 0.094 An outline cross of arcs in a two line circular frame. A four line inscription runs horizontally underneath the cross. A very long narrow slab, probably an upright, it has a strong affinity with CL00108. Inscription: 'ORDO MUIRETHACH' Evidence of discovery: Macalister 1898-1905 Condition: Complete. Probably dates to the early medieval period (7th–10th century). The cross and inscription may indicate a Christian funerary monument, possibly associated with the monastic settlement of Clonmacnoise.
