Probably dates to the early medieval period, associated with Christian worship or burial practices. It may have served as a memorial or waymark, linked to the cult of St. Berrihert.

What is recorded here

In the S sector of an ecclesiastical enclosure (TS074-010----) known as St. Berrihert's Kyle and incorporated in an oval stone enclosure, stepped internally, built by the OPW in 1946 (Ó hÉailidhe 1967, 102). This slab is located in the NE sector, on top of the wall. It is described by Ó hÉailidhe (1967, 116) as slab 42A/42B, composed of reddish sandstone (dims 0.38m x 0.29m; T 0.08m).
