Moyarta By. is an earthen ringfort in Cross, County Clare, where a rounded rampart still stands beside the road. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the middle disappeared into legend while the boundary remained visible. Someone dug that circle, lived inside it, and left the shape behind. The fairies entered later, filling the vacancy with wonder.
