What is recorded here

In pasture, on gentle SW-facing slope, close to shore of Roaringwater Bay. Oval enclosure (60m E-W; 84m N-S) defined by sharp break in slope to S and by stone wall to N. A number of low earthen banks (H c. 0.75m) divide the enclosure. Burial ground (CO148-017002-), including ruins of church (CO148-017003-), in NE quadrant of interior. In SE quadrant is circular stone-built structure (ext. diam. 8.5m; int. diam. 5m); wall (H 1.6m) roughly built with opening to SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
