Crannog is a water-world idea: a small island platform built among reeds and shallow lake, where people lived above the wet ground. In Tully South, County Fermanagh, the name points to that kind of occupied island rather than to a broad field or remote hill. The place belongs to human ingenuity, making dry room in a liquid world.
