An Gort Breac Thuaidh holds a court tomb where huge stones still mark the edge of a forgotten burial chamber. The structure belongs to the megolithic tradition, suggesting people once carried dead across open ground and placed them beneath weighty stone. Its survival in County Mayo preserves a moment when human hands shaped the landscape for death itself.
