This brass commemorative plaque records: Edward Jenner 1749-1823 was married in this church to Catherine Kingscote 6th March 1788. His work in connection with the introduction of vaccination has made him ever dear to the human race. His marriage brought him much happiness
Dr Edward Jenner FRS, a pioneering physician, is renowned for his development of the smallpox vaccine, significantly reducing the disease's mortality rate; Catherine Kingscote was Jenner's wife, and their marriage in this church on March 6th, 1788, provided personal happiness to the scientist whose work has saved countless lives globally.
