What is recorded here

Corralea Fort is a well-preserved earthen ringfort on a Galway hill summit, its two banks and central ditch forming an almost perfect circle forty metres across. A field wall now crosses the outer bank at the north, while a clear entrance remains at the northwest. Local tradition speaks of a hidden tunnel with an iron gate beneath the grass, though no surface trace appears. The fort still holds its shape in the undulating land, waiting for someone to walk its rim and wonder what the gate might have sealed.

On a hill summit in undulating grassland. Well-preserved almost circular rath (N-S 42m, E-W 41m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. A field wall overlies the outer bank at N. Well-defined entrance at NW. There is a CBG (GA030-046001-) in the interior. According to local tradition, there is also a 'tunnel with an iron gate' but no visible surface trace of it survives.
