What is recorded here

No visible tunnel or chamber appears above ground inside Corraclevin. Local tradition, however, claims a hidden passage beneath the ringfort, and that contradiction gives the place its life. The earth may have swallowed the entrance or people may have stopped looking because the claim sounded impossible. Either way, the field holds more than soil; it waits for someone stubborn enough to dig past doubt.
According to local tradition there is a tunnel located inside this ringfort (OF044-005001-) (Stout 1984-5). No surface remains or any indication of a Man-made underground passage inside this ringfort. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
