What is recorded here

In undulating grassland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a roughly rectangular enclosed mixed tree plantation (c. 56m N-S; c. 29m E-W) and on the 1946 revision of the map as an oval enclosure (c. 60m N-S; c. 40m E-W). No visible surface trace survives. According to the landowner, the enclosing bank was bulldozed in the late 1970s. No visible surface trace survives. The cartographic evidence suggests that this was most likely an enclosed tree copse and not an archaeological monument. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 26 February 2019
