Redcliff Castle, later prehistoric cliff castle 550m south west of Bedruthan

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

Redcliff Castle is a later prehistoric cliff castle 550m south west of Bedruthan in Cornwall, occupying a naturally defensive coastal promontory. Banks and ditches cut across its narrow neck, using the scarped cliff edge as a barrier in the multivallate fortification strategies of the later Iron Age. People may have watched the sea, kept herds, or resisted invasion from that ridge, turning exposed rock into a living boundary.
The National Heritage List for England records Redcliff Castle, later prehistoric cliff castle 550m south west of Bedruthan as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
