Enclosure containing eight round cairns known as Bartine Castle, 460m south east of Higher Bartinney

Eight round cairns still stand inside a shaped enclosure, not scattered but arranged as if the dead had been given a room of their own. The Bronze Age people of Cornwall built Bartine Castle a short walk from Higher Bartinney, and the enclosure suggests they wanted the whole group to be seen as one place of ceremony and memory. Perhaps someone walked that path with flour on their sleeves or a child on their hip, pointing at the stones and naming what each one held. The land has kept the shape of that attention, waiting for nobody and everyone at once.
