Cork City: Ogham stone from a hidden Ballyknock passage, now set in the University Stone Corridor. Its chipped marks preserve ACTO MAQI[....]MAGO, a name broken by time but still pointing toward the man who owned or entered that dark place.

One of 15 ogham stones found in a Man-made underground passage (CO055-007003-) in a ringfort (CO055-007001-) at Ballyknock North, Co Cork (see CO055-007014-) and currently on permanent display in the Stone Corridor, University College Cork. The inscription is boldly chiselled but chipped, resulting in a lacuna which could hold 8-10 scores. It was read by Macalister (1945, 91, no. 92) and McManus (2004, 19, no. 17.) as ACTO MAQI[....]MAGO. (Power et al. 1994, no. 4225) Compiled by: Nora White Date of upload: 7 February 2016
