What is recorded here

Knockshanawee in County Cork once hid six ogham stones inside an underground passage within a ringfort. This long lintel bore the name MICANAVVI MAQ LUGUNI, possibly linking two brothers across adjacent stones. Buried beneath a living landscape, it turned a ordinary field into a chamber where identity itself was stacked like architecture.

This is the present location of one of six ogham stones found in a Man-made underground passage (CO072-078002-) in a ringfort (CO072-078001-) at Knockshanawee, Co Cork (see CO072-078003-). This stone (1.95m; 0.5m x 0.2m) formed the innermost lintel. Both Power (1932, 21, no. 21) and Macalister (1945, 112, no. 112) gave the inscription as MICANAVVI MAQ LUGUNI; McManus (2004, 22-3, no. 27) could only make out uCANAVVI MA[] L[ ]N. McManus adds that if Macalister's reading LUGUNI is correct, the man recorded here may be a brother of the man recorded on the adjacent stone (CO072-078004-, Present Loc: CO074-138----) in the Man-made underground passage.
