A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.
What is recorded here
This site is marked on the 2nd edition of the OS map as a univallate enclosure truncated to SW by a field fence so that only the NE half survived; it was probably originally oval rather than circular. Both the field fence and the enclosure have now been levelled. It was situated on the W bank of a tributary of the Finglas river, at the foot of a steep SE facing slope.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 657. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
