Tomen Castell is a ruined tower south-east of Dolwyddelan Castle, likely built by Iorwerth Drwyndwn after 1170 and later replaced by Dolwyddelan Castle. Its thick walls still stand on a rocky outcrop above the Afon Lledr, marking the kind of frontier stronghold where Welsh princes guarded valley routes and asserted family authority.
