What is recorded here

Raftery (1941, 304) recorded long stone cist (L 2.45m; Wth 1.25m; D 0.6m). Walls were 0.40m thick, formed of stones mortared together. Long axis lay NNW-ESE (sic.); cist contained some human bones and fragments of an ox skull. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
