Yes. A man-made cave in a Mayo rath, recorded on an 1837 map but absent from a later one, may have vanished under grass, memory or time. The rath still stands, but the cave has become the kind of place that stops existing when nobody remembers the entrance.

In a rath (MA062-017001-). A Man-made underground passage is shown on the 1837 edition OS 6-inch map in the N half of the rath, where it is indicated as a circular feature, annotated ‘Cave’; it is not shown on the 1919 edition. There is no obvious evidence of the Man-made underground passage in the E half of the rath interior, and dense overgrowth impeded full inspection of the W half. It is possible that a D-shaped raised area/possible hut site (MA062-017003-) roughly in the centre of the interior may mark the location of the Man-made underground passage.
