Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00137 Dimensions: H 0.565, W 0.435, T 0.05 Double outline cross with median line. The lines of the cross make up the ring and the inner two lines of the three line frame. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Macalsiter 1898-1905 Condition: Complete but very worn. Date likely to the 8th to 10th century AD, consistent with early Christian insular art. The cross design reflects a fusion of Pictish and Hiberno-Saxon traditions, possibly used as a grave marker or commemorative monument.
