Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00128 Dimensions: H 0.52, W 0.61, T 0.05 Surviving centre and upper cross plus the right cross arm show an outline ring cross with outline ring. The centre may be circular but it is difficult to make out. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Davis 1984. Condition: Very worn and badly damaged.. Date likely to the early medieval period (8th–10th century). The ringed cross may signify Christian symbolism, possibly associated with a burial or memorial in the context of an early monastic site.
