Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00652 Dimensions: H 0.27, W 0.30, T 0.014 Fragment of a two line circular frame with simple fret pattern. Part of a circular pattern possibly a cross of arcs survive. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: OPW 1954-58. Condition: Fragment of a larger slab. Probably early medieval, associated with Christian monastic activity at Clonmacnoise. The circular frame and arc cross suggest a liturgical or decorative function, common in monastic stone carvings of the period.
