What is recorded here

An anonymous fragment from Clonmacnoise, only eleven centimetres tall, holds one straight groove that may have marked a cross or cut a building edge. It resists identification because it is so small, yet it survived the same centuries that erased larger monuments. The absence of writing does not diminish it; it redirects attention to the chisel work and the hand that judged the line complete.
