Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00515 Dimensions: H 1ft 6ins, W 1ft 7ins, T 2ins Double outline cross, probably a ring cross. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Macalister 1898-1905. Condition: Now lost.. The Clonmacnoise inventory was compiled by the Office of Public Works. Date likely to the early medieval period, possibly 8th to 10th century AD, based on the style of the double outline ring cross. Such crosses were often associated with Christian burial sites or monastic settlements, reflecting the spread of Christianity in Ireland during this time.
