Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00450 Dimensions: H 0.17, W 0.17, T 0.03 Part of a very small terminal expansion. Inscription: The bottom of three letters 'FIN'. Evidence of discovery: Davis 1984. Condition: Fragment with part of a terminal and inscription.. The Clonmacnoise inventory was compiled by the Office of Public Works. Date likely to the early Christian period (5th–9th century). The inscription "FIN" may be an initial or fragment of a name, possibly associated with a local figure or saint, common in early Irish Christian memorial practice.
