Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00449 Dimensions: H 0.32, W 0.68, T 0.15 Two terminals of a triple outline expansional cross with median line (?). A very large slab. Inscription: Possibly part of one letter. Evidence of discovery: Davis 1984. Condition: Large fragment with parts of two terminals.. Date likely to the 9th to 11th century AD, consistent with high crosses of the early Christian period in Ireland. The expansional cross may have had a liturgical or commemorative function, possibly marking a burial or sacred site.
