Break the hemispherical terminal and you destroy the last visible proof that the cross existed at all. The median line and outline survive only because the terminal still stands; remove it and the slab becomes an unidentifiable rectangle. The ghost needs its scaffold.

Condition: Most of an expansional terminal survives.. The Clonmacnoise inventory was compiled by the Office of Public Works. A copy of the record for this slab is available for inspection in the relevant Archaeological Survey of Ireland (SMR) file.
