Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00422 Dimensions: H 0.14, W 0.07, T 0.025 Fragment of a looped terminal possibly semisircular(?) and possibly containing interlace. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Davis 1984. Condition: Worn fragment of a terminal.. The Clonmacnoise inventory was compiled by the Office of Public Works. Date likely to the early medieval period, given the interlace motif typical of Insular Christian art. Such fragments may have been part of a cross or ecclesiastical monument associated with the monastic settlement of Clonmacnoise.
