Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00356 Dimensions: Unknown. A double outline expansional cross with median line. The circular central expansion contains an interlace knot and the semi-circular termianl expansions are blank. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Macalister 1898-1905. Lost by 1905. Condition: Now lost.. The Clonmacnoise inventory was compiled by the Office of Public Works. Date likely to the 9th to 11th century AD, consistent with High Cross tradition in Ireland. The interlace knot and expansional cross design may symbolize Christian spiritual concepts, such as eternity or the interconnectedness of divine and earthly realms.
