Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00262 Dimensions: Unknown. Double outline cross with circular centre. Inscription: 'OR DO UO M….LLINICANER ADINLECSA' runs down the left side of the cross. Evidence of discovery: Drawn by Petrie at Clonmacnoise in 1822. Condition: Lost after 1822. Stokes, M. Date likely to the 9th–10th century AD, based on the style of the high crosses common in early Christian Ireland. The inscription appears to be a personal dedication, possibly in Old Irish, suggesting a Christian funerary or commemorative function.
