Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00209 Dimensions: H 0.355, W 0.19, T 0.015 A double outline ring cross in a two line angular frame. The outer line of the cross forms the inner line of the frame. There is a lozenge shape in the centre with a central roundel. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Macalister 1898-1905 Condition: Only half the slab survives. National Monuments Service, Photo number: 81-94, 450, 452, 496. Date likely to the 8th to 10th century AD, based on the style of the ring cross commonly found in early Christian Ireland. Such crosses were often associated with monastic sites like Clonmacnoise and may have served as grave markers or devotional symbols.
