What is recorded here

Three broken pieces of one cross still lie scattered at Clonmacnoise, their ring and projecting circles scratched across damaged stone. The top right corner is gone, yet the double outline and square centre remain clear enough to picture the finished slab. Someone cut that cross for a name no longer written anywhere, then time or violence took it apart. What is left is not a complete monument but a shape remembered through loss.

The stem of the cross has single line circles projecting from it. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Part A rubbed by J. Graves and W. Hennessey in 1869, parts B and C by the OPW in 1954-58.
