Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00156 Dimensions: H 1.045, W 0.612, T 0.124 A double outline ring cross with square centre. The cross stem ends in two spiarls, the left one single, the right one in outline. Inscription: The stone is inscribed in three lines around the upper cross arm 'OROT [A]R FERDAMANACH'. Evidence of discovery: Rubbing done in 1869 for J.Graves Condition: Complete but very worn. Part of inscription gone. National Monuments Service, Photo number: 81-334, 605 Stokes, M. Probably dates to the early medieval period (7th–10th century). The cross design may have Christian symbolism, possibly associated with monastic or burial traditions in the Clonmacnoise area.
