Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00103 Dimensions: H 0.51, W 0.38, T 0.07 Outline cross with hollow angles, median line and stepped terminals inside a single line rectilinear frame. There is a lozenge at centre formed by the median line. Inscription: Above the frame there is an incomplete inscription which reads 'AC[SOIB'. Evidence of discovery: Maclister 1898-1905 Condition: Surface very flaked. Right side of frame damaged. Date likely to the early medieval period (8th–10th century). The cross and lozenge may indicate a Christian funerary monument, possibly associated with the monastic settlement of Clonmacnoise.
