Houses of the Dean Archdeacon & C (in Ruins)

National Monument No. 81. Present remains consist of reconstructed wall footings of two conjoined square shaped buildings orientated NE/SW located in the SE quadrant of Clonmacnoise graveyard. There is a late medieval two centred pointed doorway incorporated into the S end of the E wall of the graveyard which probably gave access to the original building. Not depicted on Ware's map of 1658 (Manning 1994, 16) but is depicted on Blaymires plan of 1739. Therefore probably constructed between 1638-1739 based on the above cartographical evidence which matches the architectural evidence.
