Clonenagh in County Laois may have worn a monastic enclosure, though no wall remains for certain. Manning read that possibility from old maps rather than dug stone. The monastery stood inside an invisible boundary, perhaps marked by hawthorn, water or habit rather than mortar. People may have walked that line for generations before forgetting it entirely.
