Fairy forts are human places misnamed because people stopped remembering they were human. Clondouglas kept its circle visible on maps and aerial photographs long after ploughs had flattened most of the rim. What remains is a low southern rise, barely high enough to mark the edge of a forgotten room. The fairness in the name does not create the place; it admits the loss of understanding.

This circular enclosure appears on the 1841-42 and 1914-15 OS maps, it also shows up quite clearly on the Geological Survey of Ireland's aerial photographs. However, this site has been ploughed out and only a 16m-long, .3m-high rise can be noted to the S. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
