What is recorded here

In 1962, Rynne recorded that, 'during the years 1942-5 .. a find was made about 12 ft. deep in a bog at Cloncumber (OS 6-inch maps 12 and 17)… a beehive-shaped (corbelled?) stone structure, about 2ft. high and about 1.5-2 ft. in diam. at the base, which, when opened was full of hazelnut shells. Nearby was found a human skeleton (KD012-017---) and the antlers of a giant Irish deer. The finder was Mr. Murt Murphy, Ballyteague, Kilmeague, Naas , Co. Kildare' (SMR file). The monument has not been located. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
