Cloghstucka — Ardnurcher

Standing stone

Why this matters

Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, Cloghstucka — Ardnurcher may have functioned as a territorial marker or ceremonial site. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with ancient druids or protective charms against misfortune.

What is recorded here

Situated in undulating pasture. Not depicted or named on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. Annotated 'Cloghstucka' on the 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map and shown located adjacent to a roadside field boundary running NW-SE. It is possible that this monument is still preserved in the roadside boundary. Monument is not visible today on Digital Globe aerial photography as its location is obscured by the tree-line field boundary.
