What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland, an artificial island where people built homes above water. The name sounds like a pointer rather than a place, as if the lake itself marked the spot for someone to notice. It may have been a kitchen, a chapel or a hiding place when storms closed the roads. Water keeps crannog secrets patient, holding wood and shape until rain or curiosity brings them back.
