Promontory fort stands sixty-two metres long on a narrow Kerry headland, forcing every traveller to pass its thick-walled houses and open circular chamber before reaching the sea. The western rectangular room measured thirteen point four by seven point seven metres with walls two metres deep, while a smaller chamber lay southeast and a six point eight metre circular space opened eastward. A narrow trench cut across the southern edge, perhaps marking a boundary or guiding water away during violent Atlantic storms. People may have lived beside the cliff, watched ships, or kept animals through winter, but the stones no longer speak clearly enough to confirm which.

This promontory fort is situated on the next headland N of the promontory fort below (KE009-077----). The promontory is 62m NW-SE and 23m NE-SW. In the W sector of the promontory is a rectangular house site 13.4m x 7.7m with walls 2m thick. They rise in height to between .16m to .25m. To the SE of this is another rectangular house-site 13.4m x 4.9m. In the ENE sector is a sub-circular area 6.8m in diameter, with a 3.2m opening to the E. The fosse is situated on the SE side and is 3.65m wide and ranges between 1.79m to 2.34m below the surrounding land. It is difficult to know whether the house-sites and Brown's Castle (KE009-024002-) are contemporary or whether the features contained within the promontory are of an earlier date.
