What is recorded here

On a W-facing slope, just below the crest of the hill, in undulating upland terrain surrounded by pasture. There is a small glen to the N before land rises again. The view N is impeded by rising ground and by forestry and E impeded by crest of hill, extensive views to S and W, though the latter is blocked by forestry. Ringfort partially built into the W face of the hill slope, in a very sheltered position despite upland location. Sub-cirucular area (diam. 36m NE-SW) enclosed by a well-preserved earthen bank (overall Wth 2.4m; Wth at crest 1.4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 2m) and deep, steep-sided fosse (overall Wth 3.9m; Wth at base 2m; D 1.1m), waterlogged in places, particularly in NW quadrant. There is a lot of scrub growing in the bank and in the interior, though there are still some open spaces with grass. Entrance gap (Wth 3.9m) in SE (140˚) with some build-up of soil in fosse which is probably due to cattle trampling, the ground level rises steeply on outer edge of fosse at this point which suggests that this was not an original entrance.
