Dinerth Castle is a ruined timber stronghold completed around 1110 on a wooded hill above the River Arth. It changed hands repeatedly among Welsh and Anglo-Norman rulers before Maelgwn ap Rhys dismantled it to keep it from Llywelyn the Great. The site still holds two tower mounds and building platforms beneath oak and beech trees, preserving the shape of a place that kept becoming someone else’s burden.
