Situated outside the NW corner of Monasterboice graveyard but within the inner ecclesiastical enclosure (LH021-062001-). It is described as consisting of two, largely rock-cut chambers each '15 feet by 4' 6 inches (c. 4.6m x c. 1.4m5)' connected by a passage '5 feet high (c. 1.5m)' according to Keenan (1945, 52). It is now inaccessible. (Roe 1981, 76-8)
The above description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
